Add more fun and readability to your git console outputs, with color.*. A simple command with powerful outputs. Join in on this quickie 😉

In this quickie I will show you how to set custom colors for changed files in your git console. At the end of this quickie, your console will display the changed files differently. Let’s start!

The command is simple: $ git config --global color.status.changed "cyan white bold"

This will show the changed files with a cyan foreground, white background and bold text when you run git status.

Now it’s your turn. Show me your creativity in your console. You can also use other options of color:

  • color.ui
  • color.branch.*
  • color.diff.*
  • and more

Post your settings in the comments down below!
